Meet the Ghosts

Howard Flint

Howard Flint Gros Fromage

My name is Howard Flint and I have always loved being around creative people. Ghost Partner was conceived after I sold my first company, BUZZ Publishing in 2006. I assumed that engaging content for the web would be important for the future, and serious businesses were going to need plenty of it. What I didn’t know was how social media was going to increase demand almost overnight. I was fortunate enough to know a group of talented writers, designers, coders, and planners that I’ve worked with over the years. Burdened with Midwestern values and a protestant upbringing, I graduated from Indiana University as an English major in the haze of the late 80s. I have been married for 34 years and have 3 unruly children.

With what the kids nowadays call a “side hustle”, I’ve always been a musician. I enjoy playing live for parishioners as well as bar patrons. I try to keep my musical tastes modern (The Front Bottoms, The Wonder Years, Jason Isbell) but have an affinity for British pop from the 80s (Elvis Costello, Squeeze, Duran Duran, XTC). As long as it’s loud and angry, I’m there.

I’m a big fan of adventure novels from authors like Clive Cussler and Michael Critchon.I love the dulcet tones of listening to Garrison Keillor read his own work. I've also been known to fall into a great autobiography or historical novel now and then.

Laura Phelan

Laura Phelan Lead Writer / Strategist

I'm Laura Phelan, the lead content writer and strategist at Ghost Partner. My specialty lies in both B2B and B2C content marketing, encompassing e-newsletters, blog writing, social media, podcast conversions, websites, script writing, and full campaign content creation. My expertise extends across various fields, from corporate to nonprofit, and I have honed my skills in technical writing for diverse industries such as computer software, engineering, business operations, finance, and healthcare.

Originally from Miami, I ventured a little further up the road to earn my degree from the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications. After graduation, I spent several fruitful years as a writer/producer for major cable networks like Turner Entertainment, right here in Atlanta, GA.

About a decade ago, I pivoted my media experience towards a burgeoning industry - content marketing. Nowadays, I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with my team at Ghost to discover each client’s unique voice and deliver content that distinguishes them from the competition.

An avid reader at heart, I have a plethora of literary heroes. However, my absolute favorite character from the vast world of books is Boris Pavlikovsky from The Goldfinch.

Whitney Walker Digital Marketing Director

Hello! My name is Whitney Walker, and I am the Digital Marketing Director at Ghost Partner. I have 6+ years of experience developing and executing multi-channel digital marketing strategies that drive real results for B2B and B2C companies. I graduated from Indiana University in 2013 with a degree in marketing and have spearheaded digital marketing initiatives for companies in several industries including flooring, sustainability, and CPG. My expertise has helped companies launch digital campaigns that resulted in a steady flow of qualified leads and increased product sales. I am passionate about helping companies increase revenue through digital strategies tailored to their unique goals and customers.

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2018 after falling in love with the city. I have an adventurous spirit that seeks out new places and experiences. My favorite cities are Honolulu, Paris, and London and I am planning future trips to South Africa and Japan. When I am not globe-trotting, I’m hunting for the best local ramen and taco spots.

I am a self-proclaimed and proud “black nerd” who spends way too much time geeking out on anime, TV/movies, and books. Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian, and The Apothecary Diaries are my favorite TV shows. I am eagerly anticipating the next books from R.F. Kuang and Tracy Deonn.

Daniel Townsend

Daniel Townsend Writer / Project Manager

I’m Danny. I’m a word wrangler for Ghost that dabbles in Project Management, enjoys sci-fi (in all its myriad forms), and watching movies. I do give a $#!& about an Oxford comma. I spend entirely too much time reading and playing Nintendo with my kids, as well as waging an unending campaign against invasive bamboo in my backyard. I have a Master’s degree in English from Georgia State University and an unenviable quantity of brewery t-shirts from a partially misspent youth. I dislike writing about myself, but generally excel in all other forms of writing (except novels, please don’t ask me about writing novels). I know a little about a lot.

INFLUENTIAL AUTHORS: Neil Gaiman, George Orwell, David Sedaris, Robert A. Heinlen, Ursula K. Leguin, Charles Dickens, Terry Brooks, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Pratchett, John Scalzi, R.F. Kuang

MUSICAL TASTES: Lo-Fi, Darkwave, Alt Rock, Oldies, 80s, Big-Band Jazz

FOOD PREFERENCES: Anything that’s not organ meat or asparagus

Katie DiGiovanna

Katie DiGi Graphic Designer

My name is Katie DiGiovanna, but Katie’s a popular name. So, I often get Katie D., Katie DiGi (pronounced “D.G.”) or KTDG. On the Ghost team, my role is graphic design and art direction, e.g. I “make things pretty,” provide creative rationale, and uphold brand and/or campaign consistency. I find the best results are the intersection of client direction, content, and design. It’s a balancing act. I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years and worked the gamut in industries—advertising, small business, non-profits, and corporate—as well as projects.

I’ve been told by clients that my creative superpower is creating order from complexity. I excel at organizing and creating easy-to-digest visuals. I’ve always loved Leonard DaVinci, and I’m inspired by both the magic and resilience of J.K. Rowling’s life and literature. ;) I am originally from Memphis, TN…yet love being an ATLien. And, fun fact, the most adventurous food I’ve eaten is Kangaroo Pizza. Poor Skippy…

Kathy Yakal

Kathy Yakal Accounting / Technical Writer

I’m Kathy. My first article about the computer industry was called “The New, Low-Cost Printers,” for the long-defunct COMPUTE! Publications. It was 1983 (yes, I’m the oldest most experienced Ghost), and 8-bit computers like the Commodore 64 were about to admit defeat not long after they were introduced as the PC clones came marching in. Those early years were fun, when there were only a couple hundred of us writing about the industry.

While there, I interviewed Andrew Tobias, who had developed a financial application for PCs called Managing Your Money. I would eventually go on to specialize in that area. Over the years, I’ve written about PC-based personal finance, small business accounting, and tax solutions for numerous print publications and websites, including PCMag and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine.

Since 2007, I’ve written Ghost Partner’s accounting (QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online) and tax how-to columns for their accounting content off-shoot The QB Client. I like helping consumers and small businesses understand how software can make their work and personal lives easier and more productive.

I’ve lived on both coasts (still miss North Carolina and California), and currently make my home in Minneapolis, MN. My husband and I are down to one dog, a geriatric beagle-basset named Dude who sleeps in my office all day. Time to rescue some more.

Campbell Carson Director of Outbound Marketing

Hello! My name is Campbell Carson, and I’m the Director of Outbound Marketing at Ghost Partner. I recently graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in journalism and a passion for crafting impactful marketing strategies that resonate with target audiences. As a fresh face in the marketing world, I’m focused on helping our clients engage potential customers through thoughtful outbound marketing efforts that drive meaningful connections and results.

Originally from Marietta, Georgia, I’ve always been curious about storytelling and how it can be used to connect with people—whether through the written word, or strategic marketing campaigns. Outside of work, you’ll find me deeply immersed in my favorite young adult novels—The Twilight series holds a special place in my heart. When I’m not reading, I’m exploring new coffee shops or catching the latest binge-worthy TV series. I’m excited to bring fresh ideas to the table and work with the talented team here at Ghost Partner!

Diana Banes

Diana Banes Graphic Designer

I provide professional graphic design services to businesses and organizations, helping them enhance their brand and achieve their goals in print and digital formats. I enjoy collaborating with others to offer comprehensive marketing services, combining branding and communications to foster business growth. I have been a graphic designer for 15+ years.

I worked in the creative services department at Kennesaw State University for 10 years, I also own my own freelance design business. I've designed lots of fun things over the years: Magazines, Billboards, Athletic Posters, Craft Beer Packaging, Murals, etc.

FUN FACT: Coming from a family of artists, I knew from a young age that I would become one myself. While initially aspiring to be a Disney animator, I discovered my passion for graphic design during my senior year after joining the yearbook staff and working with digital design software. This led me to pursue a BFA with a concentration in digital communications and become a designer!

I'm a HUGE fan of the late Walt Disney - he has been a major inspiration to me my whole life. He's my hero.

Let’s talk…
